Union Minister calls Rahul Gandhi ‘No. 1 terrorist’ over remarks on Sikhs

Union Minister and BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu has hit out at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for his remarks on Sikhs during his recent visit to the US, calling him “the number one terrorist of the country”. The Congress hit back at Ravneet Singh Bittu, who switched over to the BJP from Congress this year, for his “bottom-tier” remarks on Rahul Gandhi and that his career in the grand old party was a “mess”.
Ravneet Singh Bittu, a three-time MP from the Congress, had left the party and joined the BJP ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking to reporters in Bihar’s Bhagalpur, Ravneet Singh Bittu slammed Rahul Gandhi, claiming he was “not an Indian” and said there should be a reward for catching him as he was “the biggest enemy of the country”.
“Earlier, they tried to use Muslims, but it did not happen and now they are attempting to divide Sikhs. The most wanted people of the country had given such statements earlier before Rahul Gandhi did. Even those who are terrorists have appreciated Rahul Gandhi’s remarks. When such people are supporting Rahul Gandhi, then he is the number one terrorist of the country,” said Ravneet Singh Bittu.

“In my opinion, if there should be a reward for catching anyone or the biggest enemy of the country, it is Rahul Gandhi,” he said.
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi whipped up a political storm with his remarks on the state of religious freedom in India, citing the example of Sikhs, at an event in Virginia in the US.
Speaking at an event on Monday, Rahul Gandhi had said, “The fight (in India) is about whether a Sikh is going to be allowed to wear a turban…whether a Sikh will be allowed to wear a kada or go to the gurdwara. That’s what the fight is about, and it’s not just for Sikhs, but for all religions.”
Meanwhile, Ravneet Singh Bittu claimed that Rahul Gandhi “was not an Indian as he had spent most of his time outside India”.
“Look, Rahul Gandhi, in my opinion, is not an Indian. He has spent most of his time outside the world. His friends and family are there. That is why I think that somewhere he does not love his country much because he goes abroad and says such negative things about India,” he said.
Taking a dig at Rahul Gandhi’s public outreach initiatives, he claimed that the Congress leader participated in such programmes for photo ops.
He asserted that the Gandhi scion did not understand the pain of the poor even after being elected to Parliament five times.
“He talks about OBCs and castes. Till now, this man has not been able to understand the pain of a cobbler, carpenter or mechanic, even after being the Leader of Opposition. You are still roaming around and asking these people about their problems. Just for the sake of getting your photo clicked, you are doing such things. This is a joke,” he said.
Congress leader KC Venugopal hit out at Ravneet Singh Bittu for his remarks and said his “bottom-tier” personal attacks on Rahul Gandhi showed how much respect the BJP showed to the Opposition.
“The minimum qualification to become a minister in the Modi government, especially for spineless Congress turncoats, is to make bottom-tier personal attacks on Shri @RahulGandhi ji. Not only that, this also shows the level of hatred and disdain that these BJP leaders harbour in their hearts and how little they respect the opposition,” he tweeted.
“A democracy can only function when there is basic respect between political parties and political rivals are treated as ideological opponents, not personal enemies. It is Mr Bittu speaking, but these are the words of the Prime Minister,” he said.
Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit said Ravneet Singh Bittu had earlier used to praise Rahul Gandhi when he was a part of the grand old party.
“We can only pity such people. His political career in Congress was also a mess. He used to praise Rahul Gandhi and now after resigning from Congress and joining the BJP, he is showing his loyalty to the BJP,” he told news agency ANI.
